Mfantseman Municipality Celebrates 68th Independence Anniversary with Colourful Parade in Saltpond

Saltpond, March 6, 2025 — The Mfantseman Municipality marked Ghana’s 68th Independence Day with a vibrant and well-coordinated celebration at the municipal capital, Saltpond, under the theme “Reflect, Review and Reset.”

The event was spearheaded by the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly in collaboration with the Municipal Education Directorate and local Security Agencies. The celebration brought together dignitaries, traditional leaders, educators, students, and members of the public in a show of patriotism and unity.

In attendance were the Member of Parliament for the Mfantseman Constituency, Hon. Dr. Ebenezer Prince Arhin; the Municipal Coordinating Director, Mr. Justice Amoah; traditional authorities (Nananom); the Presiding Member and Assembly Members; Religious Leaders; Heads of Security Agencies; and departmental heads from the Assembly.

One of the highlights of the celebration was the keenly contested march past, which saw schools from across the municipality competing in various categories. The winners were:

  • Primary Category – S.S. Peter and Paul Anglican Primary School
  • J.H.S. Category – Saltpond Education Project Happy School
  • S.H.S. Category – Methodist Senior High School

The event was marked by cultural performances, patriotic music, and enthusiastic participation by schoolchildren and cadet groups, reinforcing the spirit of national pride and unity.

This year’s celebration served not only as a reminder of Ghana’s historic independence but also a moment to reflect on national progress and the collective responsibility of citizens in nation-building.
