Deepening decentralization by enhancing grassroots’ participation in decision making process, the Municipal Chief Executive, Hon. Ike Lord Ennu accompanied by Hon. Moses Ekow Asare, the Assembly Member of Nsanfo electoral area, BNI officer, and staff of the Assembly embarked on a five-day community engagement which include Asamfo,Esade,Adimbore,Akrama,Abura Anaomoa,Kotokrom,Gyenkuma,Fomena and Begyin electoral areas on Monday 23rd to Friday 27th January ,2023 to interact with the residents and address concerns bothering their development. upon several visitations, it was observed that most of these communities had their own problems and also some as a general challenge they were facing together.
First of all, they complained about their road which leads to the community, is in a deplorable state and pleaded on behalf of the MCE to make sure measures are put in place to enable them have access to good road network to help develop their community. Some other challenges include lack of KVIP, lack of culvert/drains/gutters to prevent flooding, lack of Information Centre, community Centre, building facility for early childhood education, damaged of boreholes, spoilt street light, poor network service, Construction of bridge.
The Municipal Chief Executive responded to their petition by saying if he should list their needs in terms of preference, the road is a must and will be constructed. therefore, the KVIP facility will be number one because it was not good for the community members to ease themselves in the bush. He therefore asked them to identify a suitable location for the construction of the KVIP toilet facility as soon as possible and also the community should start the construction of the KVIP Toilet Facility to prove their seriousness then the Assembly will support with either cement or roofing sheet.in the various communities. He again promised to help those communities who lack community put up new ones and repair damaged ones as well.
However, on the issue of culvert/drains/gutters the Municipal Chief Executive said he will engage experts (engineers) to assess the community and give a professional advice on the best way to prevent the flooding in the community and also repair all damaged boreholes.
I’m glad that the MCE has prioritized the construction of the road and the KVIP facility. These are basic necessities that should be available to every community.
It’s great to see the Municipal Chief Executive and his team engaging with the community and addressing their concerns. I hope they follow through on their promises to improve the infrastructure and services in these communities.
