The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission(PURC), visited the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly during its General Assembly Meeting Held on November 03, 2022 to meet members of the General Assembly and Heads of the Various Units and Department to educate them of how they work to assist the Mfansteman Municipality and the entire Central Region in terms of regulating the activities of the Electricity Company of Ghana Ltd. and the Ghana Water Company Ltd.
Some of the services rendered by the PURC include:
- Examine and approve water and electricity rates
- Protect the interest of consumers and providers of utility services
- Monitor and enforce standards of performance for provision of utility services
- Receive and investigate complaints and settle disputes between consumers and public utilities.
They outlined the procedure involved in launching a complaint with the PURC and how they step up to investigate the complaints received as it pertains to the laws and regulations governing their work. Hence they encourage all in attendance to be patient as they work to solve their pending problems and to cooperate with them as well.
