The Central Regional Town Hall Meetings and Exhibitions took place at VIKS Courts in Cape Coast on October 15, 2024 drawing ministers, traditional and religious leaders, students, citizens, and media representatives. The event began with a moment of silence and standing ovation for the tragic stone blasting incident in Buduburam, which caused loss of lives and property.
In her speech, the Central Regional Minister, Hon. Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan, highlighted the region’s significant infrastructure development, with over 5,700 infrastructure projects completed. She also praised President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia for their contributions to the region’s growth.
Dr. Anthony Nsiah-Asare, Presidential Advisor on Health, discussed the Agenda 111 project, focusing on the government’s efforts to improve healthcare facilities by constructing ultra-modern hospitals across the country post-COVID-19.
Honourable Mavis Hawa Koomson, Minister for Fisheries and Aquaculture, emphasized the contributions of the fisheries sector to job creation, food security, and poverty reduction. She noted the near-completion of the Anomabo Fisheries College, which will soon be affiliated with the University of Cape Coast, providing diploma programs and skills training for fishermen. Additionally, she praised the introduction of the automated Premix Fuel Project, which addresses issues of fuel diversion and hoarding, with 100 dispensers already in operation.
The event concluded with a panel discussion on regional projects, followed by an inspection of exhibitions showcasing the work of the region’s Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies.
