On January 10 2022, representatives from the Ministry of Transport and the Office of the President of the Republic of Ghana paid a courtesy call on the Municipal Chief Executive of the Mfantseman Municipal Assembly, Hon. Ike Lord Ennu. Led by Dr. Kwaku Yeboah, the team stated the purpose of their visit: “To evaluate the Fish Landing Site at Abandze, to seek the concerns of the people about the work at the site and to report accordingly to the appropriate authorities”.
Upon arrival to the landing site, the representatives observed a steady progress of work ongoing and encouraged the contractor to speed up with the execution of the project.
However, the fisher folks of the Abandze community made some complains the needed consideration. Some of these complains were:
- They wish the brake water bridge would face a different direction and increase the stretch to at least 120 meters instead of the 60 meters already done.
- In addition to the main project, they want the contractor to include a:
- Toilet facility
- Police/Security post
- Health Centre
- Pavilion
- Premix workshop
- School (Kindergarten)
- Drinking water
The representatives thanked them for genuinely expressing their views and laying before them their requests. They then promised to table these requests before the higher authorities for the necessary action to be taken.
