Sod-Cutting Ceremony Marks Beginning of Kuntu Road Project in Saltpond

A significant milestone was achieved in Saltpond today as the long-awaited Kuntu Road project officially commenced with a sod-cutting ceremony. The event, attended by key stakeholders including the Member of Parliament (MP), Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), local chiefs, and community members, marks the start of a transformative initiative aimed at improving the municipality.

The ceremony began with an opening prayer led by the event’s moderator. The MP, Hon. Ophelia Mensah Hayford, and the MCE were warmly welcomed by the community, with special recognition given to the chiefs, led by Nana Gyan Amankwanda VII.

In his address, the MCE expressed gratitude for the warm reception and reassured stakeholders that the project, which has been in high demand, is finally set to begin. He emphasized the necessity of the project.

Nana Gyan Amankwanda VII, the presiding chief, expressed his appreciation to the MP and MCE for their efforts in bringing the project to fruition. He recounted the poor state of the road, which had been a pressing concern for him, and revealed that he had made several visits to the MCE to advocate for the project. The chief urged the contractor to employ locals during the construction phase to ensure the community benefits economically. He pledged his full support to see the project through to completion. The contractor, Sikasem Company, assured stakeholders of their readiness to begin work immediately and deliver a high-quality project within the stipulated timeframe.
