He encouraged everyone in the Municipality to take an active part in this tree planting exercise.
The Member of Parliament, Hon. Ohelia Mensah Hayford elaborated more on the reasons for which this exercise needs to take place. Among the other things she mentioned were the fact that trees are been cut for domestic and commercial purposes and this is gradually leading to the destruction of our forests. Hence, the need for these trees to be replaced.
She also stated that we are not having more rains even during this rainy season (June-July), due to the expanded deforestation that has led to the lost of many trees.
She also reiterated that, today should not mark the end of the tree planting, but rather a start, and to also ensure that we move into each community monthly to look out for places that need trees to be planted, so we can see light at the end o the tunnel.
